The Dalaman river rafting tour is the most underrated adventure on the south coast: 14 km of class II–III rapids, breakfast and dinner, and a long midday swim. Here's the full breakdown.

The Dalaman River cuts through 25 kilometres of forested gorge between Köyceğiz and the dam, and the middle section is one of the only commercially-rafted rivers in southern Turkey. It's a real river — class II–III, not a kiddie ride — but the company keeps it accessible enough that first-timers do it every week.

What you're actually doing

You raft 14 km of the Dalaman in 6-person inflatable boats with a trained guide in each. Two-thirds of the route is moving water with rapids; the rest is calm enough to jump out and swim. Halfway through, the boats pull onto a beach, lunch (provided) is grilled by the bank, and you have an hour or so to swim and recover before the second half.

Programme

  • ~07:00 hotel pickup (Fethiye, Çalış, Hisarönü, Ölüdeniz)
  • Transfer to the Dalaman river launch point with a stop for breakfast
  • Safety briefing and equipment fitting (helmet, life jacket, paddle)
  • First half of the rafting run, ~7 km
  • Riverside grilled lunch + long swim break
  • Second half, ~7 km, ending at the takeout
  • Dinner stop on the way back
  • Return to your hotel by evening

Practical info

Tour runs Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. About 12 hours door to door. Hotel transfer, breakfast, dinner, all rafting equipment, professional guides and insurance are included. Bring some cash for snacks and a towel.

Price

Adult €65, child €50 (minimum age 7, must be a confident swimmer). The all-inclusive nature is what makes the day work — the food alone would cost half the price separately.

What to wear

Swimsuit under quick-dry shorts and t-shirt; old trainers or sturdy water shoes (no flip-flops in the boat); sunscreen on before you board. The company provides a dry bag for valuables. Phones in waterproof pouches at your own risk — the rapids will splash.

Who shouldn't book

Pregnant guests, anyone with serious back/neck issues, non-swimmers. Otherwise, even people who insisted they'd hate it ended up rebooking the next year — it's that kind of day.

Booking

Three departure days a week, capped at six per boat — popular dates fill 5–7 days ahead in summer. Reserve your spot on the Dalaman rafting tour and we'll send the pickup time the evening before.
