Dalyan Day Tour from Fethiye: İztuzu Beach, Mud Baths & Lycian Tombs

A boat ride through the reed-lined Dalyan delta, mud baths, the protected loggerhead turtle beach and 2,400-year-old rock tombs — all in one full day.
The Dalyan tour is the easiest way to fit four very different experiences into a single day from Fethiye: a river boat through reed channels, a swim at one of the Mediterranean's most protected beaches, a sulphur mud bath, and a face-to-face look at Lycian rock tombs carved into a cliff.
Why this trip works so well
Most day tours give you one big destination and call it done. Dalyan is structured around variety — you're moving by boat, not bus, and every stop has a different rhythm. It's the trip we recommend most often to families and to anyone who wants culture without spending all day in archaeological sites.
The full programme
- Hotel pickup at 08:30–09:00 from Fethiye, Çalış, Hisarönü or Ölüdeniz
- Kaunos ancient city — short walk through one of the best-preserved Carian-Lycian harbour cities
- Lycian rock tombs — boat passes directly under the carved cliff facades dating from the 4th century BC
- Mud baths and sulphur pool — locals swear by them; bring an old swimsuit
- İztuzu Beach — 4.5 km of unbroken sand, nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles (caretta caretta)
- Lunch break and return to your hotel by early evening
Practical info
The tour runs Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Total duration is around 9–10 hours. Hotel transfer, river boat and guide are all included; lunch is paid separately at the riverside restaurant (typically €10–15).
Price
Adult €60, child €45. Group sizes are kept small enough that everyone gets a seat at the front of the boat at some point.
What to bring
Swimsuit (an old one for the mud), towel, change of clothes, sunscreen and water. Camera is essential — the Lycian tombs from the boat are one of those shots that ends up framed at home.
Best time to go
May–June and September–October give the best balance: warm enough to swim, cool enough to enjoy walking around Kaunos. July and August are popular but İztuzu can get crowded and the mud pool gets a queue.
