Ölüdeniz Paragliding: A First-Timer's Honest Guide

Babadağ is a 1,960 m mountain that drops straight onto the Blue Lagoon. We answer every question first-timers ask: is it safe, what does it cost, will I be sick?
Ölüdeniz paragliding is one of those bucket-list things that's actually better than the hype. You take off at 1,960 m above sea level on Babadağ and land 30 minutes later on the beach next to the Blue Lagoon. The flight time is the second-longest of any commercial paragliding site in the world. Most first-timers spend the drive up scared and the flight down grinning.
How safe is it really
You fly tandem with a licensed pilot who has thousands of flights logged on this exact mountain. The wing is checked before every flight. The pilot makes the takeoff and landing decisions. You sit in a harness like a chair, hands free, no controls to operate. The actual risk is closer to a commercial flight than a roller coaster — but it feels far more thrilling because the wind and the silence are real.
What the day looks like
- Pickup from your hotel in Fethiye, Çalış, Hisarönü or Ölüdeniz any day of the week
- Drive up Babadağ — about 35 minutes, last 10 of which are switchbacks
- Equipment fit and 60-second briefing at takeoff
- 30-minute flight from 1,960 m down to the beach (sometimes longer with thermal lift)
- Landing on Ölüdeniz beach
- Optional video/photos (extra) — purchase at landing
Practical info
Flights run every day, weather permitting, in three windows: morning (calmest, best for nervous flyers), midday (longest thermals), and late afternoon (golden light). The whole experience is about 3 hours from pickup to drop-off — the flight itself is short, the takeoff prep is the slow part.
Price
Adult and child €140 per person — there's no child discount on tandem flights because the wing has to lift adult + pilot weight either way. The price includes hotel transfer, all equipment, the certified tandem pilot and insurance.
Will I be sick
Most people aren't. The flight is much smoother than a small plane. If you tend to motion sickness, ask for the morning slot (calmer air) and avoid eating a heavy breakfast. Pilots will adjust the maneuvers — tell them you'd rather not do spirals.
What to wear
Closed-toe sneakers (mandatory for takeoff), light layers — it's 15 °C cooler at the summit than at the beach. Sunglasses with a strap. Avoid loose clothes and dangling jewellery.
Booking
Same-day booking is sometimes possible but a day or two ahead is safer in summer. Reserve your Ölüdeniz tandem flight and we'll hold a slot in your preferred window.
