Pamukkale Hot Air Balloon Tour from Fethiye: Sunrise Over the Travertines

Pamukkale Hot Air Balloon Tour from Fethiye: Sunrise Over the Travertines · 7 min read

The Pamukkale day tour, but with a sunrise hot-air-balloon flight added at the start. €200 per adult — and yes, that includes the transfer from Fethiye.

Pamukkale is one of three places in Turkey where hot-air ballooning is genuinely worth the early start (the other two are Cappadocia and Trabzon). At sunrise, you lift off above the white travertines, the Hierapolis ruins and the Lykos valley behind them. From 800 metres up, the terraces look like a frozen waterfall.

How the day works

This is the standard Pamukkale day trip with a balloon flight added at the very start. Pickup is earlier (around 02:00 from Fethiye) so you reach the launch field before sunrise. After landing you get the standard breakfast, then the same day in Hierapolis and on the travertines as the regular tour.

Programme

  • ~02:00 hotel pickup (Fethiye, Çalış, Hisarönü, Ölüdeniz)
  • 05:30 arrive at the balloon launch field, briefing
  • 06:00 lift-off, ~50–60 minute flight
  • 07:00 traditional landing celebration with sparkling juice/wine
  • Breakfast
  • Hierapolis ancient city, travertines, optional Antique Pool swim
  • Lunch break in town
  • Return to your hotel by evening

Practical info

Tour runs Tuesdays. About 18 hours total — the longest day on our menu by far, but you sleep on the bus down. Hotel transfer, the balloon flight, all park entrance fees and the certified pilot are included. Antique Pool, lunch and souvenir photos are paid separately.

Price

Adult €200, child €150. Yes, that's a serious step up from the €60 standard Pamukkale day. The flight alone bought separately at the launch field would be more — bundling it with the day trip saves you the second night in Pamukkale that independent travellers usually pay for.

Is the flight worth it

If you've already done Cappadocia ballooning, you'll find Pamukkale calmer and lower-altitude — fewer balloons in the sky, completely different landscape underneath. If you've never ballooned before, do it here: the launch field is large, the conditions are stable, and the descent over the white terraces is genuinely cinematic.

Weather caveat

Hot-air balloons fly in stable wind only. If the morning's weather doesn't allow it, you have two options: rebook the flight for the next available Tuesday, or take the standard Pamukkale day trip instead with the price difference refunded. We confirm the flight at 03:00 on the morning of departure.

Booking

The morning balloon caps at 16 passengers — we usually need to know 5–7 days ahead. Reserve the Pamukkale balloon + day tour and we'll send the pickup time the evening before.
