Saklıkent Canyon Tour from Fethiye: Tlos Ruins + Trout Lunch

Saklıkent Canyon Tour from Fethiye: Tlos Ruins + Trout Lunch · 6 min read

Author: Agrom Travel

The deepest canyon in Turkey, an ancient Lycian city carved into a hilltop and grilled trout by the river — a calmer, fuller version of the jeep safari day.

If the jeep safari sounds like too much chaos, but Saklıkent canyon is still on your list, this is the version of the day to book. Same canyon, same trout restaurant, same scenery — but with a comfortable bus, more time at each stop, and the bonus of Tlos, one of the best-preserved Lycian cities in the country.

Why this tour exists

Saklıkent is the second-deepest canyon in the world (after the Grand Canyon) and the deepest in Turkey. The walk into the gorge — wading through icy meltwater between 300-metre vertical walls — is genuinely something you don't forget. Add Tlos on the way and you've got a real day of geology + history, not just an Instagram backdrop.

The full programme

  • Hotel pickup around 09:00 from Fethiye, Çalış, Hisarönü or Ölüdeniz
  • Tlos ancient city — acropolis, stadium and stunning Lycian rock tombs (allow 60–90 min)
  • Riverside lunch by the canyon mouth — fresh local trout (included)
  • Saklıkent Canyon walk — wade upstream as far as you're comfortable; bring water shoes
  • Return to your hotel by early evening

Practical info

Tour runs Fridays. About 8 hours total. Hotel transfer, lunch and guided tour are all included. Tlos entrance fee may apply separately depending on the season.

Price

Adult €50, child €40. The price includes lunch (jeep safari does not), which is why the per-person price is higher despite covering similar ground.

What to bring

Water shoes are essential — the canyon floor is sharp pebbles and slippery rock. Swimsuit under your clothes, towel, change of clothes. Sun hat for Tlos (no shade up at the acropolis).

Saklıkent vs jeep safari — which to book

If you're travelling with kids 6+ who want to get soaked and have a wild day, take the jeep safari. If you want the canyon and the ancient city in calm comfort with a proper sit-down lunch, this is the one. Both visit Saklıkent — they're not duplicates.

Booking

Friday-only departures fill quickly. Reserve the Saklıkent canyon tour a few days ahead and we'll confirm pickup the night before.
